Blockhouse Bay is known for its lovely beach. Many people picnic there in summer, with the large grass
reserve area there is plenty of space for everybody. A playground caters for the Children and there are bush walks which many enjoy.
Community groups also have Christmas and Easter events there with stages set up for bands and entertainment.

Whether you are after dining in or taking out the Village has many options to choose from. We are very lucky to have the choice of two cafes and two sushi shops, both fantastic with a few seating areas if you wish to eat there. T
If you are looking at some takeaway options we offer Chinese, Fish and Chips, Thai, kebabs and Indian. The licensed Indian Restaurant is also a fantastic place to dine with great food if you are looking for a night out. Two Dairy’s are very handy to grab anything you need both in convenient locations and of course there is our fantastic Supermarket where you can get all your supplies.
Finally, if you are after that sweet treat, we have a great ice cream shop. Come treat yourself or the kids.
Blockhouse Bay Village offers a variety of shops. There is a supermarket, a liquor store and two
dairies for grocery items, places to buy clothing and jewellery, a florist, an optometrist, and a dollar store. With a choice of hairdressing salons and barbers the family is sorted for haircuts. There are restaurants, cafes and a bakery all offering a variety of food. A post office and real estate offices make the village a very convenient place to go if you need a few things done.

There is a great sense of community here in Blockhouse Bay. This is due to the variety of
community based things there are on offer within a small distance from one another.
The Community Centre has a fabulous program of activities on offer like fitness, dancing and even pottery classes. They offer rooms that can be hired for meetings or events. The largest room can cater for up to 260 people. The Historic Armanasco House Building is also available for hire and is open on Tuesdays to the public to come in and learn a bit of history.
Blockhouse Bay has three Churches which all run services, activities for children and other events. The Public Library also runs activities for children and events in the school holidays.
When it comes to childcare and education, Blockhouse Bay has a Playcentre, a Kindergarten, Primary Schools, an Intermediate, and a High School. There is also a Plunket Clinic for pre-school health checks.
